Interview with Forsakken

Interview with TEO from the band Five Ways To Nowhere

By N. A. Foy
BIO:

"Five Ways To Nowhere is a powerful blend of loud guitars, aggressive and groovy riffs, a scratchy voice with catchy melodies all driven by a
neurotic rhythm section.  The first spark that brought the band to life was when Dario Orlando and Charlotte S first met. Their musical journey began with other musicians, other sounds, other names, creating an alchemy that later became the core of Five Ways To Nowhere. Soon other members joined in to complete the line-up: Matteo "TEO" Lassandro with his face-melting rhythm guitars, the versatile drummer Fabio Brunetti and the bassist Silvia "SIXBASS" Casetta. In December 2016 bassist Davide “DAVY” Rocco replaced Silvia Casetta.

That’s how this new rock band was born. Their music is a mix of Hard Rock and Alternative that creates an explosive and melodic sound in the
wake of bands like Halestorm, Shinedown, Papa Roach and others.

That’s Five Ways To Nowhere. 100% Rock."

INTERVIEW

N. A. Foy: Tell us a little about Five Ways To Nowhere. What have you released so far?  What are you currently working on?

TEO:  First of all, I’d like to thank you for this interview: it’s always cool to meet people who still want to support the underground scene!
We released digitally worldwide a double-single “Wildstyle / Obsessed” on March 3rd, 2017 via our German Label FemMeropa (available on Spotify, Deezer, iTunes, Amazon, etc…) and we’re currently working on our first album, which is planned to be released early next year.

N. A. Foy: If you had a short time to describe Five Ways to Nowhere in an elevator, what would you say?

TEO:  Well, FIVE WAYS TO NOWHERE is a powerful blend of loud guitars, aggressive and groovy riffs, a scratchy voice with catchy melodies, all driven by a neurotic rhythm section.

Our music is a mix of Hard Rock and Alternative that creates an explosive and melodic sound in the wake of bands like Halestorm, Shinedown, Papa Roach and others.

N. A. Foy: How old were you when you decided to pursue a career in music and were there any particular musicians or singers that inspired you?

TEO:  I started playing guitar when I was 14 and I still remember the day I wanted to start. I was at school and a friend of mine lent me his walkman (a portable music-cassette player, very popular back then) telling me “Dude, you gotta listen to this shit!”: it was “Kickstart My Heart” from Motley Crue’s “Dr. Feelgood”. I just said “WOW! I wanna do this!”, so I went to my parents and I asked them to buy me a guitar. That’s how it started and…you know what? Today I still feel the same energy every time I play my guitar!

N. A. Foy: I watched the video for “Obsessed.” Great job. Do you plan on putting anymore songs to video in the near future?

TEO:  Thanks! We really appreciate it! Yes, for sure. We also released a lyrics video for “Wildstyle” and we’re actually working on the next video which will come out soon ;-)

N. A. Foy: Is there a story behind the band name “Five Ways to Nowhere?”

TEO:  Oh man, it’s been a hell! We were looking for a name that could sound “new”. Sometimes a short name could be easier to remember, but we wanted to have the “five concept” as we’re five people and our sound comes from 5 vibes that play together. “Ways to nowhere” expresses the idea of a Rock N Roll journey with no direction having our musical a travel buddy.

N. A. Foy: What are some things you like to do for enjoyment when you are not doing music?

TEO:  Have sex and drink alcohol! Ahahah…kidding :-)

I love traveling and I do travel quite a lot. it’s always cool to discover new places and meet new people. Of course we also do it when we’re on tour, but, as time schedules are always too fucking short, we almost got no time for sightseeing. So, it’s better to slow down sometimes and enjoy the beauty of landscapes, sunsets, cities, etc…

N. A. Foy: If you were stuck on an island and somehow were able to listen to music, what 3 CDs would you want with you?

TEO:

Backyard Babies “Total 13”
Ace Frehley 78’s “Solo Album”
Guns N Roses “Appetite for Destruction”

N. A. Foy: Out of the lyrics you perform so far, is there a particular one that you like best? Is there a story behind it?

TEO:  First of all, I’d like to tell you that all lyrics are written by Charlotte: I love the way she writes and I think her lyrics are pretty cool. Personally I do love the lyrics of “Wildstyle”: it’s a consideration that comes from the feeling that you have when you realize that you’re living in a boring society and about your needs to escape from this reality which doesn’t belong to you. So, you start thinking about a new “funny” world ,full of colors, made of interesting and different people.

N. A. Foy: Us fans always like to know things about the band members. How about some favorites. What is your favorite color? Number? Foods? Movie(s)? Book(s)? Or any other favorites you want to mention?

N. A. Foy: What is the main message you want to give to you fans through your music and example as a band? Is there anything else you would like to tell everyone before we finish?

TEO:  I think that every band should have a kind of “mission”, something that pushes you to go ahead and helps you when you’re on your knees. We hope to give emotions to the people that listen to our music: we just wanna say  “have fun, enjoy your life…and don’t forget to Rock N Roll!”
